Biography

Sam is a volunteer at the International Bible Church of Armenia, where he gives his time and skills to support the church online and behind the scenes. By God’s kindness, he has been able to put his training in computer science, electronics, and engineering to work in the service of Christ and His church. Because of his work schedule he is not always able to attend Sunday services in person, but he continues to serve the IBCA family in any way he can throughout the week.

From childhood Sam was drawn to the way things are made. He spent his early years taking apart and rebuilding electronic components, studying robotics and information technology, and later earning a degree in computer science. His interests grew to include electrical engineering, building science, and aircraft and drone design. Alongside this technical work he has long loved philosophy and the questions it asks. The more he studied, the more convinced he became that God is the first and greatest Designer, and that every honest pursuit of truth eventually arrives at His feet.

Coming to Christ

Sam was born and raised in Iran. Knowing Arabic from a young age, he was well acquainted with Islam, and over time his study of it left him with serious questions and a growing sense of its weight on the people and culture of his homeland. Through online teaching, particularly the work of Dr. David Wood, he was drawn to consider the claims of Jesus Christ. In time the Lord opened his eyes to the truth of the Gospel, freed him from sin, and made him a new creation in Christ.

From Iran to Yerevan

Because of his political and religious convictions, Sam came under increasing pressure from the Iranian government. At the end of 2021, with sorrow but trusting in the Lord, he left Iran for Armenia in order to protect his life and his family. The first season in Yerevan was difficult. He was without financial support, without family nearby, and without the community he had left behind. There were moments when the weight of those difficulties tempted him to lose heart. But the Lord heard his prayers and led him to the International Bible Church of Armenia, where he was welcomed into a new family in Christ and began to grow under the ministry of the Word.

Serving as a Volunteer

Out of gratitude for what God has done, Sam now offers his skills back to the church on a volunteer basis. He designed and maintains the IBCA website so that more believers, and seekers, across Armenia and beyond can encounter the gospel and the ministry of this church. He also helps with various technical needs as they arise, contributing wherever an extra pair of hands is useful.

From September 2024 through October 2025, Sam volunteered at the Agarak Ministry Center in Syunik Province on the Iranian border. He assisted with the building’s electrical, plumbing, and renovation work, helped at outreach events, and served alongside the team in translation and personal conversations with Iranians crossing into Armenia. That season drew him closer to Christ and deepened both his faith and his understanding of the Word.

A Burden for His People

Today, Sam continues to volunteer in whatever way he can to support the IBCA family. His heart is especially burdened for Iranians, both those who remain under the weight of the regime and those who have come to Armenia carrying its wounds. He prays that they would find in Jesus the light that no darkness can overcome, and he is glad whenever his small contributions, alongside the work of so many others, can help that light reach a little further.

The Lord has also placed in his heart a desire to one day carry the gospel to Japan, where the name of Christ is still little known. Until then, he serves where God has placed him, quietly and faithfully, believing that small acts of service offered in love are how Christ continues to make His name known in Armenia and among the nations.

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”
